Rick has worked professionally as a graphic designer, web and multimedia developer since the analog 1980s. He has produced radio for national syndication, captured & edited documentary film shorts for distribution.

He began instructing at the university-level in 1997, teaching and coordinating programs at both public and private universities in several western USA states.

Mr. Kovacic is a Multimedia and Web developer with a background in electronic & digital media. His work spans both analog and digital realms beginning in the 1970s to present day.

Rick has taught Web Design, Media Arts and Multimedia technologies on the college level since 1998.

"I am now interested in Immersive and Interactive Media applications in industry, business and education."

Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, studying in two disciplines at Colorado State University:

He also holds a Dual Masters degree in Multimedia Technology & Telecommunication Systems Management from California State University:

About the Web, Multimedia and the Future of Information

I was fortunate to study Web and Internet technologies when they were emerging in the 1990s, while working and studying in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. I realized the core concept behind the idea of the 'Web' was as an open distribution network of information, accessible to anyone anywhere at anytime. I have followed persons as Tim Berners-Lee, the 'inventor' of the Web, ever since. He says:

"When I designed the World Wide Web, I built it as an open platform to foster collaboration and innovation. The Web evolved into a powerful and ubiquitous platform because I was able to build it on an open network that treated all packets of information equally. This principle of net neutrality has kept the Internet a free and open space since its inception."

In 2019, Tim Berners-Lee help found the Contract for the Web Campaign, an initiative by the World Wide Web Foundation to address issues of political manipulation, fake news, privacy violations, and other malign forces on the Internet. More information at contractfortheweb.org.
